Cut liquorice root for beer brewing
Licorice root can impart a naturally sweet, spicy and slightly earthy flavour character to beer. It is used especially in dark beer styles, where the flavour can interact with roasted malts, caramel and other spices.
How to use
The liquorice root is added according to the recipe, typically during boiling. The flavour can be distinct, so the quantity should be adjusted to the beer style and the desired intensity. The root pieces are strained off along with the hops and other spices.
