There are many advantages to new kegs; you know the condition of the kegs and can decide how well they should be treated, but be aware that you should NOT unscrew the couplings when cleaning! Use chemicals and/or steam.

It is stainless steel and excessive resistance can tear the thread. Unscrewing the couplings is not covered by any kind of warranty!

With older kegs, you will be able to unscrew couplings more easily as ageing reduces the risk of tearing.
